The history of Johanson began in 1953 with the idea to sew cushions. Through the years the company grew and attracted worldwide attention by focusing on Scandinavian design and sterling furniture craftsmanship. In close collaboration with some of Europe’s foremost furniture designers, Johanson creates collections centred in Scandinavian handicraft tradition that fill the products with a truly special style and feel.
In the 1960's the classic egg-shaped Venus chair, one of the company’s all-time best-selling items of furniture was born. Today it remains a much-loved feature in countless bars, restaurants, night clubs, cruise ships, offices and private homes around the world. In the 1990's – Sputnik and Snaps bar stools were born to gain iconic status and huge success.
Johanson designs chairs, armchairs, barstools, sofas, tables, poufs and stools, coat hangers and other furniture accessories. Based in Markaryd, Sweden, company offers enormous selection of upholstery designs and 399 different RAL colours for our furniture’s metal parts. The possibilities of recycling and renovation are an important factor in future production, so today, more than 90% of companies' range can be recycled efficiently.
